After graduating from high school, I attended Purdue University in Indiana where I twirled with the Purdue All American Marching Band. I twirled at Radford my freshman year before joining the Rhythmettes drill team my sophomore year. I graduated from Purdue in 1980 and became a flight attendant for Delta Airlines and lived in downtown Chicago. Later I lived in Miami and Salt Lake City. In 1986, I married my college sweetheart and moved to Shorewood, Wisconsin (right next to Milwaukee). Our first son, Collin, was born in 1991. In 1996, we adopted our son, Devon, and two years later our daughter, Katie. Our oldest son has autism and to learn more about the disability, I returned to college in 1999 to get a Masters degree. After September 11th being a flight attendant was not so fun anymore, so I remained in school and got my Ph.D. in education. I retired after 25 years with Delta and am now an associate professor. Big career change! I teach graduate school at the University of St. Thomas in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am in the Department of Special Education and specialize in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
