Pursued a career in Visual Merchandising and Store Design while attending University of Hawaii, and fortunately became an established fashion stylist and visual designer in the wild 80s and early 90s. Got to work with numerous fashion designers and luxury brands, and creating award winning visual displays. As the demand and budgets declined for theatrical fashion visuals I found more satisfaction transitioning into store planning and design, and eventually hospitality, restaurants, and now Exhibit Design for Conventions. My wife is from Osaka, Japan and I have really come to love Japan and appreciate all the design, technology, culture, and arts, and history, of the county from our many travels.
We have two wonderful children. My son, Joshua, is now a filmmaker based in LA and travels globally to do music videos and commercial work. He's doing what I wanted to do! My daughter, Ines, will be graduating 2021 and already has a web presence and business, and has 160K followers on Tik Tok. She originally had dreams of being a K-Pop Idol (think Black Pink) and went to a JYP audition a few years ago. I'm relieved that she is planning to pursue a degree in Business while furthering her art training with the goal to launch a Manga/Anime studio in Japan. During the pandemic she started a webtoon with 3 other friends and introduced us to the vast spectrum of Anime being produced. It's amazing. She has rekindled my passion in drawing and I'm learning to sketch using a digital tablet. It's still awkward. Ideally it would be great if we can all move to Japan - my daughter and I do anime and art, and my wife wants to open her own Hula studio so that would be good. I'll pray!
